All the Praise is for Allah, who is the author of all existence and the Most Generous to His creation, while He is also the All-Compelling.

(NOTE: If you want to build a strong and powerful relationship with Allah, check out Islamia TV, where you can watch Islamic speakers from across the globe deliver inspiring and motivational courses. Learn more at www.islamia.tv.)

He is the Only One worthy of our worship having no partners, no associates, no sons, no daughters and no one whom He must consult and no one or anything which has any comparison with Him.

All the Praise is for Allah, who is the King of all who claim Sovereignty, the Only One who has the right to legislate for His creatures.

He is the Giver of Life and the Causer of Death, while death has no effect upon Him because He is the Ever-Living, the Self-Subsisting, the Eternal and the Only Absolute.

All the Praise is for Allah who has power over all things, and there is in reality – no power, no influence to cause benefit or detriment except He.

It is He, who Created this complex world, the seen and the unseen, the evident and the speculative, the earth and all that is on it and in it.

It is He who Created the Heavens that are near and far, the atmosphere and the hemisphere, the stratosphere and the outer space of stars, planets and galaxies.

It is He, who Created all of this in detail and diversity, in a systematic way that scientific laws can be deduced from it, yet so expansive and profound, that science is unable to accurately measure it.

It is He who Created and Determined all at once, with no pause between His word “Be” and it is! The Heavens, the Earth, the angels, the jinn and the men, the beasts, the birds, the insects, the fish in the sea, of every species and kind – all created simply by His word.

It is He, who Created the life and mandated death, in order to see which of His creatures that He has given volition will be the best in their conduct and worship.

It is He, who sent into this world, at different times and places – Messengers (Peace and Blessings be upon them all) who were gifted with Divine Scriptures and the highest of morals, by which to guide and educate the human beings to a life which is legislated for them and fulfils their very purpose.

It is He who sent His Messengers and Prophets (alayhimus-Salaam) with the common message of strict monotheism, which simply means that there is absolutely no One worthy of Worship or Obedience except the Almighty, the One, the Absolute and who has no partners.

It is He, who gave the human beings intellect, culture, civilisation, temporary power and passing pleasures and possessions. Yet, He has subjected all who are on this playing field called life – with death, a fact which humbles the arrogant, the wealthy, the rebellious, the disbeliever, the doubter, the ungrateful, the corrupt, the ignorant, and the deviant – without exception.

It is this fact, that we need to ponder upon in order to reconcile truth from falsehood, right from wrong, the true vision from the apparent mirage of life.

Fortunate are those who understand the fleeting value of this world, the trauma and the swiftness of death, the Promise and as surety of the Grave and the Resurrection, the ensuing Judgement and the sorting out for the Final and Permanent destinations of Paradise and the Bottomless Pit.

Listen my dear Brothers and Sisters and my fellow creatures among the non-Muslims.

Listen carefully, while I paint for you a picture, and construct for you the scenario which will most certainly follow your short life, your certain death, and your sojourn in the grave.

My references will be the Glorious and Majestic Qur’aan, which is the only existing Book that provides us with such clear and dramatic details. Additionally, I will extract some of the descriptions of this scenario that is referred to as “the Great Catastrophe”, or the Hour of Reckoning from the authentic sayings of the Final Prophet and Messenger, Muhammad Ibn Abdullah – who was the most truthful of all who spoke the truth! (Peace and Blessings of Allah Be upon Him).

We thank the Almighty, who granted Divine Revelation and Scripture, that describe all things in detail and that specifically emphasises three things:

  1. Monotheism
  2. The Message of the Prophets and Messengers
  3. The facts concerning the Hereafter
  4. My dear Brothers and Sisters, and my fellow creatures among the non-Muslims;

The Reality of the Reckoning will be explained in the actual order in which it will unfold with no exaggeration or undue drama from the speaker. This tremendous event will have seven distinct stages:

  1. The sounding of the Trumpet
  2. The Swoon, the Trauma and the Opening of the graves
  3. The Gathering and the Standing
  4. The Judgement, the Scales and the Weighing
  5. The Sorting out into the three groups
  6. The Final Determination (the Winners, the Losers)
  7. The Final Destination (Paradise or Hellfire)

It has come to us from an authentic source that Abu Hurairah (ra) said: That the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said:

“ “That when Allah, Most High completed the creation of the Heavens and the earth, He created the “Soor” (i.e. the Trumpet or the Horn) and Allah gave the “Soor” to the angel whose name is Israfil (as) and he (Israfil) placed the horn onto his mouth. From that time until now, he is holding the horn to his mouth and his eyes are fixed upon the Throne of Allah, Most High. He is waiting for the order from Allah to blow into this horn.”

The Prophet (PBUH) has further told us that from that day, the angel Israfil (as) has never bowed down, he has never blinked, fearing that Allah, Most High may order him to blow into the horn before he is able to raise his head, or before he is able to complete his blink, therefore his eyes are fixed upon the Throne of Allah, waiting for the command to blow.

On that Day Allah, Most High will say:

“ “O Israfil – Blow into the horn.”

The hadith of Abu Hurairah continues by saying:

“ The angel Israfil will blow into the horn and continue to blow into it and he will not get tired or require any rest. The sound from the horn will be so terrifying that all those in the Heavens and the earth will be traumatised upon its sound except for those whom He, Allah, Most High wishes to be spared from that terror.

The sound of that horn will send shock waves greater than that of the hydrogen bomb, the atomic bomb or the neutron bomb throughout the universe, causing the entire environment to rupture and to go into convulsion and chaos everywhere.

All the mountains will move from their place, turning into fluffs of cotton and moving like clouds, although before that, they were the most stabilising elements on the earth. They will turn into a million pieces and eventually will become like scattered dust.

The earth will begin to experience earthquakes in every place, splitting open and releasing hot lava and steaming gases. The oceans will boil and create gigantic tidal waves, the sky will become black and then the Heavens as we know it will be rolled back and the colour will change to copper red with no clouds.

The earth will be rolled up like a carpet or a scroll in the Hands of the Almighty.

On that Day when the Trumpet is sounded, young people who are strong and handsome, will become suddenly old and their hair will turn white from the trauma and their bones will start to split and crack.

On that Day parents will run from their children, the children will run from their parents, the mother who is nursing will abandon her child. The pregnant woman will abort. Every person will only be concerned about themselves on that terrible day. You will see the human beings as if they were in a drunken state (i.e. they will fall into a swoon) and a state of delirium, although they will not actually be drunk. They will be terrified and paralysed out of fear and trauma.

Even the Devil, Shaytan himself – who was given respite for disobeying the Command of Allah, will be full of terror because he knows that this is the Day of his Final Reckoning. He and his army of devils will flee to various corners of the world, seeking to escape but they will find no hiding place. The angels of Allah will chase them, trap them and begin to administer beatings and punishment upon them.

The human beings and the jinn will experience such pain and humiliation that they could never imagine: They will see the Heavens rupture, and the stars will fall from their places and nothing will remain in its place including the earth itself.

The Angel of Death will then come to Allah, Most High and say:

“O Allah! There remains no one with a soul within the Heavens or the earth except for those whom You wish to remain alive.”

Although Allah Knows who remains alive, He will ask the Angel of Death –

“Who remains alive?”The angel will answer: “Only You who is the Ever-Living and who does not experience death. Only the angels who carry the Throne, Jibrail (as), Mikail, and myself remain.”

Allah will say let death come to Jibrail (as), Mikail (as) and the angels which carry the Throne – and they will all die.

Then Allah will ask the Angel of Death (as) who remains? The angel will answer –

“Only the One who Lives and never dies and I – O Lord!”

Allah will then say:

“You are a part of My creation and I created you for a purpose and you have completed that purpose – Now you shall die!”

Then the Angel of Death will die.

Then only Allah will remain: That is because He is the First, without any beginning, and He is the Last, without any end, and He is the Evident, and He is the Immanent. He is over everything with complete Power and Knowledge.

Then the entire earth and Heavens will be rolled up in his right Hand and He will announce: I am the All-Compelling (al-Jabbar). Who is it that has any rule or authority today? Who is the King, the Master and the Ruler today?

There will be no answer – and Allah, Most High will answer –

“To Allah belongs the Sovereignty and the exclusive Existence (Wahiddul-Qahhar).

Then Allah, Most High will transform the earth into a flat and white plain and will be stretched like a rubber band.

Then Allah will cause all the bodies in the earth to come out of the earth as if they were vegetables that grew out of it and He will cause the souls to return to each of them all the way back to our father Adam (as). The souls will reach every body that ever entered the earth and they will be resurrected exactly as they were created before, with the same characteristics and the same identifying features, including their fingerprints and their DNA.

They will be resurrected all together:

Men / women / jinn / shayateen / birds / beasts.

They will all be: naked, uncircumcised and barefooted.
They will be hungry and their stomachs burning
The sun will be over their heads at the distance of a mile
They will have hot wind blowing in their faces
The doors of Hell will be opened
They will sweat until their sweat will produce rivers up to their knees, their waists, their shoulders, and some, up to their noses
They will cry tears until their tears create a flood, and when they cannot cry anymore tears, they will then cry blood
They will be shouting and screaming like animals being slaughtered, but Allah will not listen to them
They will have their flesh burned and it will smell like rotten corpses
They will ask the Prophet Adam (as) to intercede for them but he will refuse
They will be stacked up like sticks and will have no place to stand or place their feet
They will ask to be thrown into the Fire, not realising that the Fire of Hell will be a million times hotter and more painful
This will be only the beginning of the drama of the Day of Judgement.
Then Allah will order the Judgement to begin and the Scales will be set up to weigh the deeds. Everyone will be treated with Justice and Mercy.

The deeds will be weighed – the Good and the Bad – the Haram and the Halal – the Truth and the Falsehood and no one will be able to hide or deceive. All deeds will be announced and brought forward for all to see.

All debts will be paid and accounts will be brought forward. No one will want to give even one deed to their mother, their child, their husband or wife or their friend on that Day. Everyone will only be concerned for their own benefit.

Then Allah will sort the people into three distinct groups:

  • The Companions of the Right Hand (i.e., the Righteous Believers)
  • The Companions of the Left Hand (i.e., the Rejecters of Faith)
  • The Foremost (i.e., the Prophets, the Messengers and those who were the most sincere and truthful)
  • Each of these categories will have two groups each.
  • Then Allah will determine the Winners and the Losers, those who are successful and those that are miserable. They are the people of the Paradise and the people of the Fire.

Listen to this description from Allah, Most High:

So then Allah, Most High will give everyone their visa and their ticket for the Hellfire or the Paradise of which He has described in many places in the Qur’aan.

    Hell:

“Verily, the day of decision is a fixed time.
The day when the trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds.
And the heavens shall be opened, and it will become as gates,
And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage.
Truly, hell is a place of ambush –
A dwelling place for the taghun.
They will abide therein for ages.
Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges –
    An exact recompense.
For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning.
But they belied our signs completely.
And all things we have recorded in a book.
So taste you. No increase shall we give you except in torment.
Verily for the mutaqun there will be success (paradise). Gardens and vineyards,
And young full breasted maidens of equal age,
And a full cup (of wine).
    No laghw (evil talk) shall they hear therein nor lying;
A reward from your lord, an ample calculated gift,
From the lord of the heavens and the earth, and whatsoever is in between them, the most gracious, with whom they cannot dare to speak (on the day of resurrection except by his leave).
The day that ar-ruh (jiraeel) and the angels will stand forth in rows, they wil not speak except him whom the most gracious allows, and he will speak what is right.
That is the true day. So whoever wills, let him a place with his lord (by obeying him in this worldly life).
Verily, we have warned you of a near torment – the day when man will see that which his hands have sent forth, and the disbeliever will say: “woe to me! Would that i were dust!” (78:17-40)
“Then look again and yet again: your sight will return to you in a state of humiliation and worn out. And indeed we have adorned the nearest heaven with lamps, and we have made such lamps as missiles to drive away the shayatin, and have prepared for them the torment of the blazing fire.

And for those who disbelieve in their lord is the torment of hell, and worst indeed is that destination. When they are cast therein, they will hear the terrible drawing in of its breath as it blazes forth.
It almost bursts up with fury. Every time a group is cast therein, its keeper will ask: “did no warner come to you?”(67: 4-8)

    Heaven:

    Allah says:

      “It will be said: “seize him and fetter him;
Then throw him in the blazing fire.
“Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!”
Verily, he used not to believe in Allah, the most great,
And urged not on the feeding of al-miskeen.
So no friend has he here this day,
Nor any food except filth from the washing of wounds.
None will eat it except the khati’un (sinners, disbelievers).” (69: 30-37)

    Allah says:

“Verily, the dwellers of paradise, that day, will be busy with joyful things.
They and their wives will be in pleasant shade, reclining on thrones.
They will have therein fruits of all kinds and all that they ask for.
It will be said to them: “salaam – a word from the lord, most merciful.” (36: 55-58)

Dear Brothers and Sisters: Respected guests from the non-Muslims:

These depictions and descriptions are as real and truthful as anything that you have experienced in the life and are beyond that in both pleasure and pain.

The Qur’aan tells us that the Hereafter is better and more lasting.

This means that the world that we live in is temporary, deceiving and extremely limited, while the station of Paradise is greater, more profound and permanent.

The Hellfire is a just recompense for the arrogant, the oppressor, the corruptor, the liar, the cheater, the fornicator, the adulterer, the drunkard, the gambler, the magician, the disobedient, and the rejecter of faith.

It too will be a permanent place of residence for those who are so unfortunate to be sent there.

Has not the time come for all of us to examine ourselves and reform our lives in order to qualify for the Mercy of the Almighty?

    The Qur’aan says:

“And paradise will they enter, therein will they be adorned with bracelets of gold and pearls, and their garments therein will be of silk. And they will say: “all the praises and thanks be to Allah who has removed from us all grief. Verily, our lord is indeed oft-forgiving, most ready to appreciate (good deeds and to recompense).
Who, out of his grace, has lodged us in a home that will last froever, where toil will touch us not nor weariness will touch us.” (35: 33-35)
“So certainly are they successful, who purify themselves, and certainly ruined are they who corrupt themselves.” (91: 9-10)

Narrated Abdullah (ra): That the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said:

“ “Paradise is closer to any one of you than the strap on your sandal and so is the Hellfire.” (Bukhari)

Narrated Abu Hurairah (ra): That the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said:

“ “None will enter Paradise but will be shown the place they would have occupied in the (Hell) Fire if they had rejected Faith, so that he may be more thankful; and none will enter (Hell) Fire but will be shown the place they would have occupied in Paradise if they had believed so that it will be a cause of sorrow for him.” (Bukhari)

Dear Brothers and Sisters and respected guests from the non-Muslims:

Declare now that you have the breath and the opportunity –“That there is no other object of worship except Almighty Allah.” Say – “La ilaaha illa lah.”

Say –“Muhammadoor-Rasoolulah” (PBUH). Declare that Muhammad Ibn Abdullah is the Final Prophet and Messenger of Allah (PBUH).

Save yourselves from the Hellfire even with a date, (i.e., a small sacrifice) a kind word, a good deed, an act of charity or an act of sincere worship.

Look towards your Faith and evaluate your actions before the inevitable event takes place and you will be full of regret.

Do your own reckoning and your own reflecting before the Hour of Reckoning overcomes you.

Humble yourselves, be sincere to your Lord, repent and reform your lives.

We ask that these words from the Qur’aan serve as a medicine for our sickness and the words of wisdom from the Prophet (PBUH) serve as a source of guidance for us.

Whomsoever Allah grants guidance, no one can lead them astray – whomsoever is kept in misguidance, (by their own corruption and disbelief) no one will be able to guide them!

We ask that our advice be recorded and witnessed. For our benefit and a proof against the arrogant and the heedless.

To Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on the earth, and whether you disclose what is in your ownselves or conceal it, Allah will you to account for it. Then he forgives whom he wills and punishes whom he wills. And Allah is able to do all things.

The messenger (muhammad pbuh) believes in what has been sent downto him from his lord, and (so do) the believers. Each one believes in Allah, his angels, his books, and his messengers. (they say),

“O you who believe spend of that with which we have provded for you, before a day comes when there will be no bargaining, nor friendship, nor intercession. And it is the disbelievers who are the dhalimun.

Allah! None has the right to be worshipped but he, the ever living, the one who sustains and protects all that exists. Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes him. To him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth. Who is he that can intercede with him except with his permission? He knows what happens to them (the creatures) in this world, and what will happen to them in the hereafter. And they will never encompass anything of his knowledge except that which he wills. His kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and he feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving them. And he is the most high the most great.

There is no compulsion in religion. Verily, the right path has become distinct from the wrong path. Whoever disbelieves in taghut and beleives in Allah, then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold that will never break. And Allah is all-hearer, all-knower.

Allah is the guardian of those who believe. He brings them out from darkness into light. But as for those who disbelieve, their supporters and helpers are taghut, they bring them out from light into darkness. Those are the dwellers of the fire, and they will abide therein forever.(2: 254-257)

“ “we make no distinction between one another of his messengers” – and they say, “we hear, and we obey. (we seek) your forgiveness, our lord, and to you is the return (of all).”

Allah burdens not a person beyond his scope. He gets reward for that (good) which he has earned, and he is punished for that (evil) which he has earned.

“our lord! Punish us not if we forget or fall into error, our lord! Lay not on us a burden like that which you did lay on those before us (jews and christians); our lord! Put not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Pardon us and grant us forgiveness. Have mercy on us. You are our patron, supporter and protector and give us victory over the disbelieving people.”(2: 284-286)

    Allah is the Best Knower.
